Senior Workday Specialist
Key responsibilities
Workday configuration & architecture
- Own and configure Workday Core HCM, including supervisory organizations, job structures, business processes, condition rules, validations, and eligibility logic.
- Lead configuration and optimization of Time Tracking / Attendance, Absence and Scheduling, including accruals, calendars, rules, time entry, approvals, and audits.
- Support and optimize Expenses processes where they intersect with employee data, approvals and reporting.
Integrations & technical ownership
- Take functional and technical ownership of Workday integrations, including requirements, design, testing, monitoring, and issue resolution.
- Work closely with IT and vendors on EIBs, Core Connectors, APIs and (where applicable) Workday Studio, ensuring secure and reliable data exchange.
- Own integration change impact assessments during releases and projects.
Reporting, data & security
- Design and maintain advanced Workday reports and dashboards, ensuring data consistency, performance, and stakeholder usability.
- Actively manage data quality, root-cause analysis, and sustainable corrections.
- Configure and maintain Workday security (roles, domains, business process security policies) in line with compliance and least-privilege principles.
Change, releases & continuous improvement
- Lead implementation of new Workday features or modules from design through deployment and hypercare.
- Own Workday release management: assess impacts, coordinate testing, document changes, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
- Proactively identify opportunities to streamline processes, reduce manual work, and improve user experience.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, configuration standards, and training materials for HR and super users.
Stakeholder collaboration
- Act as a senior sparring partner for HR, IT, Payroll, Finance and external partners.
- Challenge requirements constructively and translate them into scalable Workday best-practice solutions.
What we ask
Must-haves
- 7+ years of hands-on Workday experience in a senior HRIS, Workday Consultant or Techno-Functional role (in-house and/or consultancy).
- Strong, proven expertise in:
- Workday Core HCM
- Time Tracking / Attendance
- Absence
- Scheduling
- Reporting & analytics
- Integrations (functional + technical collaboration)
- Solid understanding of Workday Business Process Framework and Security model.
- Experience working in an international, multi-country environment.
- Strong analytical skills, technical mindset, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluent in English (Dutch, French, Spanish or German is a plus).
Nice to have
- Experience with Workday Expenses, Payroll integrations, or Workforce Management at scale.
- Experience working in Agile or product-oriented teams.
- Workday certifications.
